PiZetta Media makes what it calls content with a cause—stories about first responders, nonprofits, and mental health, distributed across streaming, cable, and a YouTube channel with more than fifty thousand subscribers. This one runs thirty-six minutes and covers the whole arc.
The order of events matters more than the diagnosis does. Years of being misunderstood in school came first. Then years of being misdiagnosed in treatment. The bipolar diagnosis arrived in his early twenties—not as an explanation handed down, but as the first description that finally fit what had already been happening for a decade. That sequence is the part most coverage gets backwards.
What followed was not recovery in the tidy sense. It was tech ventures, three patents, and work alongside people in AI and government data—none of it in spite of the illness, none of it because of it either. The interview is careful on this point. Bipolar is neither the obstacle nor the superpower. It is the condition under which the work happened, and pretending otherwise in either direction is its own kind of erasure.
The Bipolarist began as a domain name and a side project. It became the banner for the argument Jeff had been making privately for twenty years: that stigma is not something to be politely dissolved but something to be named, measured, and confronted directly. That is the distinction he draws between anti-stigma and what he calls prostigma—the difference between asking the culture to stop labeling and taking the label back with your own handwriting on it.
He also talks about the cost side honestly: discrimination at work, the accommodations that never came, the calculation every openly diagnosed person runs before disclosing. It is the same terrain as Working While Bipolar, three years earlier and one interview removed.
